The betrayal
[Verse 1] The cold wind howled from the eastern plains, Steel boots marched and brought their chains. A smaller hand, fierce and free, Stood their ground by the burning sea. [Verse 2] Through the valleys, through the fields, The iron beast refused to yield. But thunder rolled from far away, A helping hand held wolves at bay. [Chorus] Oh, the fire rose, the cannons roared, A brother’s hand crossed the ocean floor. Gold and guns, the promise made, A deal was struck, the debt was paid. [Bridge] Then a new voice in the old halls spoke, Turned the tables, changed the joke. "You owe me now, boy, know your place You're a whinin’ pup in a loser's race." [Verse 3] The wind now shifts, the tides now turn, The ancient lands, they start to burn. One stands east, the other west, Both claim power, both contest. [Verse 4] Europe cracked, as glass in hands, Scattered dreams, divided lands. Each a king with his own crown, Each afraid to stand their ground. [Outro] But one by one they found their song, A thousand wills became one strong. They raised a banner, fierce and bright, Stood together in the dying light. [Chorus] Oh, the fire rose, the cannons roared, But now the debt ain’t paid no more. No hands reach across the sea, Only echoes of what used to be.
