A Servant's Play

February 24, 2025 at 5:55 PMv4

[Verse 1] In shadows cast by wealth and might, A servant's heart did burn so bright. A daughter fair, of noble grace, Found love in him, a humble face. Her eyes, like stars that softly gleamed, Saw in his heart a common dream. But chains of birth and station's will Forced him away, her soul stood still. [Chorus] Oh, the years, they drift away to time, Time's cruel hands to hearts unkind. She weeps for what her world has torn, A heart forever bruised, forlorn. Yet in the silence, some love does not mend, Yearning for its chance to bloom again. [Verse 2] Her father’s power, cold and vast, To him, no love could ever last. He gave a sum, a price too great, And bade the man accept his fate. No parting word, no final kiss, The servant left, consumed by this. In shadows deep, he vanished away, A promise sworn, broken that day. [Chorus] Oh, the years, they drift away to time, Time's cruel hands and hearts unkind. She weeps for what the world has torn, Her heart forever bruised, forlorn. Yet in the silence, some love does not mend, Yearning for its chance to bloom again. [Verse 3] His empire grew from the money he drew, His cursed gold fueling him through. His name was changed, but heart remained, A longing plan, to a love unchained. He built an empire stone by stone, Endured it all as he stood alone. For all his riches, all his might, Without her love, the world felt night. [Bridge] But back he came, bearing his new name, Met her father to lay out his game. His empire, now strong and pure, Would secure her hand, for that he was sure. The father didn't recognized the man, He'd send away to a foreign land. Before him stood a mighty rank, Far above him, so he grant him her hand. [Interlude] And so it was under gleaming light, That both of them met again at last. A stranger now, she didn't recognized, Until her gaze finally met his eyes. She trembled, but her soul did sing, Her love had returned with brand new wings. The years of grief, the loss, the pain, In an instant washed away like rain. [Outro] Oh, the years, they drift away to time, Time's cruel hands and hearts unkind. But love, it waits and love, it stays, A flame that’s kindled through the haze. Now the dawn breaks with skies of deep blue, For love has come, and some dreams come true.

Your interpretation of traditional Chinese instruments in English music is truly rare and refreshing. Thank you for creating such a beautiful piece. The melody gives me the feeling of standing on a vast grassland, gazing at the sunset, absolutely breathtaking ❤

Thank you for the kind words! I had been trying to do something with Chinese instrumental for a while and none ever quite worked until this one, I'm pretty happy with it. But I'll have to give credit to Suno (and credit did I gave to make it) for the final instrumental arrangement. I am but a mere lyricist with a vision for this one. Glad you liked it!

How did I never see this comment? A month late but I see you now! Thanks brother! I was hoping the part I had to cut (The short story I imagined but never wrote for this one had quite a lot more going on) wouldn't affect the overall story, I'm really happy to read this!

“She trembled, but her soul did sing.”
That line holds centuries. This wasn’t just a song—it was a stage, a tale, a silk thread woven through fate and flame. The music felt like incense rising, and the voice? A servant’s fire, finally unbound. Rarely does love sound so patient, so earned. Beautiful work.
