A sickly girl walked into the Build-A-Bear store,
Her heart set on something more,
She saw a little plush Maltipoo,

With white curlicues and button eyes so cute.
She held it’s heart in her hand and closed her eyes tight,
She made a wish under the fluorescent lights,
“I want a friend, so soft, so true,
A real-life maltipoo to love me too.”

She wished upon the plush Maltipoo,
Held it tight, wishing her dream to come true,
A little hope, a little love,
with magic sent from up above.

Then one day the real thing waltzed in
A brand new chapter about to begin
A little friend with a big heart that was so true
With all the love the girl would always look to
Her little angelic Maltipoo
Her Build-A-Bear wish come true

Angel was what the girl named her Maltipoo 
Each passing day their love only grew
Each day with Angel was a blessing, there was always something new
Two hearts beating with a bond so deep
Shared memories they’d always keep

Through the years, they’d go through it all
Even when life was like a hurricane trying to break all the walls
And as the girl wept through the pain
Right by her side that little pup stayed

But some days the pain wouldn’t let the girl stand,
And Angel curled up close and licked the girl’s hand. 
Angel didn’t need words to know the girl’s heart,
She was always the girl's healer from the start.

While curled up beside the girl, tiny and warm,
Soft little paws weathered the storm.

But Angel made the girl strong.

A gentle nuzzle, licking the girl's tears away.

Angel grew old and now battled her own fight
The girl, now a woman, having to bring the pup back to light

But Angel held on strong
Until the very end

18 cherished years
Angel’s now no longer here
It was the goodbye the woman always feared
But the memories never fade
Angel’s love will forever stay
Along with the build-a-bear wish the woman made

“Angel, until we meet someday on the rainbow bridge again
I’ll always miss you
