Light can be natural — like the Sun in the sky, A crack of lightning as storm clouds fly, Fireflies glowing in the dark of the night, Or the northern aurora, a beautiful sight. Light can be artificial too — made by people, you see, A lamp, a flashlight, a bulb on a tree. These sources send out both light and some heat, Helping us work, read, and move on our feet. Light always travels in straight lines through space, Through air or through water, it moves with grace. But when it meets water or glass, its path can bend, Changing its direction from end to end. Some things make their own light, like a star or flame, While others reflect it — that’s how we can name The moon, or a mirror, or a piece of paper too, They don’t make light; it’s just bouncing for you! Light can help us stay healthy and strong, But too much sun can cause things to go wrong — Like sunburn or even hurt your eyes, So balance your time under those skies! From a tiny glow bug to a lamp by your bed, Light is all around and goes straight ahead. It shines, it reflects, and it can also bend, A force of nature, and a very bright friend!
